Level Two: Frak-Out Prevention & Water-Flow Management is an advanced module that takes the theories and concepts addressed in Level One and applies them in a simulated, real-time environment. The first two days of class will consist of classroom instruction. Pressure concepts and the mathematical processes and calculations taught in Level One will be reviewed. The more technical aspects needed to implement controls with different types of entry set-up and the casing safety requirements for artisan water flow, where control is or may be an issue, will be the focus of this module. Students will then apply this knowledge “in-the-field”, being led through a controlled simulation on an actual HDD rig. A frac-out situation will be created for the students to control. They will then be required to complete the necessary documentation and follow-through in containing the fluid and then complete the cycle by conducting a clean-up of the site.
Students will be required to bring all safety gear that is required when in the field – hard hat, steel-toed boots, coveralls, et cetera.
This module is intended for managers, supervisors, engineers and personnel involved in the planning of higher risk HDD crossings.
