The horizontal directional drilling process can be a dangerous occupation if crew members are not fully trained and understand the importance of equipment ratings, capacities and proper set-up. Safety should always be the priority in any task and increasing safety awareness is the catalyst behind this module.
Every rig is unique in set-up and design. HDD Rig Equipment and Processes – Entry Level is developed to provide instruction on the equipment that can be used during the drilling process. Students will receive an orientation on the various equipment that they could be exposed to, along with the basics of why and how to properly maintain and operate this equipment, with the expectation that they will be able to apply this knowledge to their unique situation in the field. Utilizing hands-on application with various measurement tools, students will become more familiar with a safe drilling operation.
This course is intended for anyone who is new to the HDD industry and will provide the safety infrastructure necessary to pursue a career in horizontal directional drilling.
